Ingredients:

  • 4 (6 oz / 170g) salmon fillets
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
  • 1/4 tsp (1g) black pepper
  • 1/3 cup (110ml) honey
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 3 cloves (15g) garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp (14g) unsalted butter

Instructions:

  1. Pat the salmon fillets completely dry with paper towels and season both sides evenly with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat until it shimmers. Place salmon in the pan (skin-side down if applicable), pressing down lightly with a spatula for 10 seconds.
  3. Sear for 3-5 minutes without moving the fillets until a golden-brown crust forms. Flip and sear for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. Reduce heat to medium. Push the salmon to one side of the pan and add the butter. Once melted, stir in the minced garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the honey, soy sauce, and lemon juice. Stir constantly for 2-3 minutes as the sauce bubbles and thickens into a syrupy consistency.
  6. Spoon the glaze over the salmon continuously until the fish is coated and the sauce is velvety.
