Make this toasted Italian sandwich recipe featuring layers of savory deli meats, provolone cheese, and fresh veggies in a perfectly toasted roll.

  • 1 large Italian roll or ciabatta bread
  • 4 slices of salami
  • 4 slices of pepperoni
  • 4 slices of ham or capicola
  • 2 slices of provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded lettuce
  • 4 slices of tomato
  • 2 tbsp banana peppers, sliced
  • 2 tbsp red onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Italian dressing or olive oil
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) or set your toaster oven to medium-high heat.
  • Slice the Italian roll in half lengthwise and spread mayonnaise evenly on both sides.
  • Layer salami, pepperoni, ham, and provolone cheese on the bottom half of the bread.
  • Place the sandwich open-faced in the oven and toast for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is crisp.
  • Remove from the oven and add shredded lettuce, tomato slices, banana peppers, and red onion on top of the melted cheese.
  • Drizzle Italian dressing or olive oil over the veggies and sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Close the sandwich, slice in half, and serve warm.
