Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves.
  • In another bowl, combine pumpkin puree, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  • Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the batter.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar and boiling water until dissolved. Pour this mixture evenly over the batter.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown. Let it cool slightly before serving.
