Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground turkey (93% lean)
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmigiano Reggiano
  • 1/4 cup minced fresh parsley
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4-6 fresh basil leaves

Instructions:

  1. Combine ground turkey, panko, egg, parmesan, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Note: Mix with a fork or your hands until just combined to keep the texture light.
  2. Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in your skillet over medium high heat.
  3. Shape the mixture into 2 inch balls. You should get about 12 to 16 meatballs.
  4. Add balls to the pan. Brown for 2-3 minutes per side until a deep golden brown crust forms.
  5. Pour 24 oz of marinara sauce over the meatballs.
  6. Turn heat to medium low.
  7. Simmer gently for 10-12 minutes.
  8. Check the center of a meatball until it reaches [165°F (74°C) internally](https://www.fsis.usda.gov/food-safety/safe-temperature-chart).
  9. Stir in fresh basil leaves.
