Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted and hot
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup (30g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (90g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the hot melted butter and granulated sugar.
  3. Add the room temperature eggs and vanilla extract; whisk vigorously for 1-2 minutes until the batter is smooth and lightens in color.
  4. Sift in the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Fold the dry ingredients gently with a spatula until just combined; do not overmix.
  6. Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smooth the top, and bake for 25-30 minutes until the edges are set but the center has a slight jiggle.
  8. Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan, then refrigerate for 2 hours before slicing into 16 squares.
