Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients needed to prepare)
  • 1 box (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate syrup
  • 1 1/2 cups crushed Oreos (for the dirt)
  • Gummy worms
  • Tombstone-shaped cookies (e.g., Milano cookies or graham crackers)
  • Black decorating gel or edible marker (for writing on tombstones)

Instructions

  • Bake the chocolate cake according to package instructions in a 9x13-inch pan. Let it cool slightly.
  • Once slightly cooled, use the back of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the cake.
  • Prepare the chocolate pudding by whisking the pudding mix with milk.
  • Pour the chocolate pudding evenly over the cake, making sure it seeps into the holes.
  • Drizzle chocolate syrup over the top of the cake.
  • Sprinkle crushed Oreos over the entire cake to resemble dirt.
  • Decorate with gummy worms and tombstone cookies. Use black gel or an edible marker to write "RIP" on the tombstones.
  • Chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the pudding to set.

Notes

  • Customize the decorations with candy pumpkins or other Halloween-themed items.
  • Let the cake sit overnight in the fridge for best results, as the pudding will soak into the cake for extra moisture.
