It’s a savory and satisfying twist on a classic grilled cheese. Perfect for a quick lunch or dinner, this sandwich is easy to customize with your favorite add-ins like onions, pickles, or jalapeños.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 slices of bread
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar or American cheese
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened
  • Optional: pickles, jalapeños, or sautéed onions

Instructions

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onions are soft. Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2-3 more minutes, then set aside.
  • Butter one side of each bread slice. Place a slice, butter-side down, in a hot skillet.
  • Add a layer of cheese, then a spoonful of the cooked ground beef mixture. Top with more cheese and another slice of bread, butter-side up.
  • Grill the sandwich for 2-3 minutes per side, until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
  • Repeat with the remaining ingredients and serve hot with ketchup, pickles, or your favorite sauce.

Notes

  • Customize your sandwich by adding extras like sautéed mushrooms, jalapeños, or a drizzle of hot sauce.
  • Swap out the ground beef for ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • Use your favorite type of cheese, such as Swiss, mozzarella, or pepper jack, for a different flavor profile.
