This easy hamburger potato casserole recipe combines layers of seasoned ground beef, thinly sliced potatoes, and melted cheese for a comforting and filling meal. Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (plus extra for topping)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, cook ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until beef is browned; drain excess fat.
  • Stir in garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  • In a bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
  • In a greased casserole dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the ground beef mixture. Pour half of the soup mixture over the top, then sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  • Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, beef, and soup mixture. Top with extra cheese and breadcrumbs if desired.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 45-50 minutes, until potatoes are tender. Remove foil for the last 10 minutes to allow cheese to brown.
  • Serve hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or sausage for a different flavor.
  • Add vegetables like peas or green beans for extra nutrition.
