  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add diced onion and garlic, and sauté until softened. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in marinara sauce, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan, egg, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  • In a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce. Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  • Spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by 1/3 of the shredded mozzarella.
  • Repeat the layers twice more, ending with a layer of meat sauce and the remaining mozzarella cheese on top.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  • Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve hot.
