Brown Butter Apple Blondies combine nutty brown butter with caramelized apples for a rich, gooey fall dessert. Perfect for seasonal gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown and nutty, about 5-7 minutes. Let cool slightly.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together brown butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Add eggs and vanilla; mix until smooth.
  • Stir in flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt until combined.
  • Fold in diced apples and walnuts (if using).
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • For added texture, top with a caramel glaze or a dusting of powdered sugar.
  • Granny Smith apples work best for a balance of tart and sweet.
